Easter is just about a week away. Around here that also means it’s Spring Break and what better way to kick of the week than egging your neighbors?!? Now don’t go raiding the refrigerator just yet, I’m not talking about THAT kind of egging. I am talking about leaving fun treats on your neighbor’s door and then bookin’ it.

The supplies can be as simple or complex as you want them to be. I started with these fun oversized eggs I found at Dollar Tree and filled them with SweetWorks Niagara Chocolate eggs, Sixlets, stickers, crayons, and candies. Each egg was topped out with a free printable card that explains that they’ve been Egged!

I am pretty obsessed with the crayon packs that you can pick up for under a dollar each at Target.

We egged one house with 2 boys so I packed the egg accordingly with candy I also found at Dollar Tree.

So download your own free printable egging card, pack a little surprise, and treat your neighbors to a little Easter treat this week!!

A random, lunchtime journey into my local dollar store a few weeks ago sped up my Easter Basket planning for this year. Usually I would wait so there is less likelihood of little eyes finding my stash but the bright colors got me. I can’t lie; bright, fun, Spring colors get me every time and within about 20 minutes I had almost every thing I needed for AWESOME and CHEAP Easter Baskets.

The supplies:

  • A plastic bucket ($1)
  • Tissue Paper or newspaper to bulk up the bottom (free or cheap)
  • Easter Garland ($1)
  • Assorted candies, toys, stickers, containers (around $1 or under)

Ball up several sheets of tissue paper or newspaper to line the bottom of your bucket. This ensures that your goodies are front and center (and it means you need less to fill your basket).

Next use your garland in place of Easter Grass, it makes NO mess! The last thing I want to do Easter morning is pick up the trail of Easter grass.

Now you are ready to fill your basket! It’s best to start with the tall items in the back of the basket first and build it forward. I used a sticker book I picked up at Michael’s for a dollar along with a puzzle from the dollar store as my base of this basket. The special pink chocolate bunny is a Niagara Chocolate from Sweetworks bunny and will run you more than a dollar but it was my showstopper piece for this basket as my daughter is OBSESSED with chocolate. However, many of the pieces in the basket came in multi-packs that I split up between the 2 baskets I made, so it all works itself out.

And of course I couldn’t help but take out my Silhouette CAMEO and whip up a little personalization for the buckets. If you don’t have a cutting machine you can use stickers or, my personal favorite, paint pens!!

When I saw that the dollar store had Lisa Frank puzzles I automatically put down whatever other puzzle I had in my hand and picked it up. Lisa Frank was my hero in elementary school!!

Again, everything in this basket was put together on the cheap, plus a little personalization here and there.

I can’t wait to see the excitement on the faces of my two daughters on Easter morning when then get their AWESOME Easter Baskets. They will never know that the Easter Bunny made them on the CHEAP!

Here come’s Peter Cottontail, hoppin’ down the bunny trail, hippity hoppity, Easter’s on its way!
If you are anything like me you LOVE pouring through the numerous Pottery Barn catalogs that come in the mail any given week. They have great design, products, and most affordably, inspiration. While going through the latest Easter collection I saw the most adorable Easter Bunny Bunting. Theirs is made with cardboard covered with fabric with fluffy little tails – which you could easily do, too – but I only had 20 minutes and zero dollars to dedicate to this project so paper and cotton balls it was!

Here was the inspiration – it sells for $26 and is 8 feet long.

Source

Here is what you’ll need to recreate it yourself:

  • Various patterned and solid scrapbook paper
  • Cotton Balls
  • Twine or thin ribbon
  • Hot Glue Gun and glue
  • Cutting machine / bunny shape to trace / your own free handed bunny shape

I used my Silhouette Cameo and cut out the same shape on to 7 different sheets of paper. I cut 2 out of each pattern in case I wanted to also make an 8 foot bunting. Here is the design from the Silhouette Store that I used.

You could print out a bunny shape and use that as your template to trace and cut out or you could drawn your own free handed bunny silhouette onto cardboard and use that as your template. As long as all the bunnies are the same you’ll get the right effect.

Line up all your bunnies in the pattern you’d like use a little bit of glue on each bunny bum and attach a white cotton ball or pom.

Awww, cute little bunny bums!

To attach your bunnies to the twine/ribbon just dab a little glue on the back of the ears and carefully place your twine/ribbon through the glue.

And that’s all there is to it! I ended up spending $0 on this knock-off and about 20 minutes!

The best part is that you can tailor your Easter Bunny Bunting to any color scheme or design trend that you’d like and you can experiment with different materials, too!
So don’t just sit there HOP TO IT!! 😉

To follow up my 20 Minute Tuesday post this week I wanted to share with you the cutest little fill-in food tents! They are so cute in fact that you could even use them as place cards or cut them down even further and use them as gift tags!!
Table Tent Printable

They coordinate with the Spring banner that I posted but I also added a blue bird option and a yellow birdie option.

Each file downloads with 4 food tents to a sheet, all with the same color. There are cropping guides that will print with your PDF file but before folded, each tent is 3.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall (so when folded the finished product is 3.5″x2.5″). These food tents could easily double as place cards or TRIPLE as gift tags if you cut the backs off. That’s right, this project is a TRIPLE THREAT! 😉 Links to the files are at the bottom!

Free Banner Printable

Of course it would be fitting that on the day that I try to share with you a fun, bright SPRING printable banner that there be no sunlight whatsoever. So please excuse the dark photos today, I just couldn’t wait to share the file with you.

Free Spring Banner

Since I was crushing on the tag shape of the banner pieces I needed to come up with a fun way to string the banner. Using my crop-o-dile, I punched a hole in the entire stack of pieces all together and then added fun turquoise brads I had in my craft stash. Once all of the brads were in place I used the opened back of the brads to secure some baker’s twine to each tag, twisting the twine around each brad.

I am back for another fun and quick 20 Minute Tuesday post! This week we are going to  tackle a little Easter craft and activity that includes a free printable!!

Free Easter Craft Printable

Supplies:

  • Baby food jars (or other containers to hold you magic beans)
  • Jelly Beans (any flavor)
  • Scissors and a 1.5″ circle punch if you have it (can cut by hand if you don’t)
  • Jar labels that you can download FREE printed out on sticker paper or cardstock
  • double-sided tape if you printed the labels on cardstock
  • spray paint for lids in you desire

I thought I had 2 empty baby jars when I brain-stormed this idea last week, turned out I could no longer find said jars, so I purchased 2 jars at Target, they are like $.80 each. You could also ask a neighbor with a baby for her left overs or use some other type of similar shaped container. Just wash and dry your containers well. No need to remove all the sticky from the label as you are going to be covering them up anyhow. I decided to give my lids a QUICK once over with spray paint – it dries to the touch in about 10-15 minutes as long as you use quick even sprays from about 12 inches away.

Cut out all your labels, either by hand or with a circle punch.

Wrap the jars with the labels.

The back side of the label gives instructions as how the “magic” beans work. It is up to you if you’d like the magic beans to grow lollipops, Easter Eggs, or other treats in their place, carrots?

Pop the circle labels on top of the jars. Sidenote – when you spray paint over the expiration date on the lid, the expiration date shows through the spray paint – who knew!

Fill with Jelly Beans and let your kiddos get to planting!

Try not to eat all the extra Jelly Beans while you are waiting for the magic to happen!!

Hoppy Easter!!

Welcome back to week three of 20 Minute Tuesday! This week I have a craft project that can be used for any holiday or celebration when you want to add a little extra layer of something special to your table setup. Today I have picked a color combination that is perfect for Easter dinner or Mother’s Day brunch, but you can pick anything you’d like, even a different color for each place setting!!
Easter Table Setting Ribbon

Supplies:
  • Ribbon of your choice
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Paper Plate
  • Stapler or Hot Glue Gun

This combination of mint, lavender, and cream just seemed like it would add a nice pop of color to my white everyday dishes.

To determine how long you’ll need to cut your ribbon, place your paper plate under your dinner plate and then, without cutting any ribbon off the spool, play with making a loop from the edge of the paper plate that sticks out as far as you’d like. Then measure how long that ribbon is and cut the rest of your pieces to the same length. I used 13 pieces of 1.5″ wide ribbon, 5 pieces of 7/8″ wide ribbon, and 8 pieces of 5/8″ wide ribbon to complete my plate – all of which were 5.5″ long.

**how I started this project is NOT hot I finished it due to not looking at my supply levels before starting so you can use either method**

Method 1 would be to fold the ribbon over the edge of the paper plate and use a staple to secure the ribbons, working your way all around the plate. Make sure you have more than 4 staples in your possession before choosing this method. :)

The 2nd method you can use is to hot glue the ribbons to the plate. Simply glue one end to the top rim of the plate and then flip the plate over and glue the other end to the bottom of the rim. You can even do several at a time.

When you are finished, just place your dinner plate on top of the paper plate!

The paper plate is completely hidden!

If you have children old enough to cut ribbon or use a glue gun or stapler this would be a fun family craft project, too!

Welcome to my new (hopefully) weekly series called 20 minute Tuesday!! Every week I am going to bring you quick, easy, smart, and cute ideas that can be executed in around 20 minutes. I’d love to hear any ideas you have for a 20 Minute Tuesday segment – leave me a comment or drop me a line!! On with the show.
A couple weeks ago, at my daughter’s 5th birthday party, I set out a rainbow of gumballs in mason jars on the dessert table. It was fun and pretty, but it netted me with a bunch of extra gumballs. So while I was procrastinating doing real work last week and staring at the half empty mason jars full of colorful gumballs it came to me…make gumball flowers!! But then, the ideas just kept coming…make those flowers in to bracelets, or corsages, for my little ones to wear!! They were so simple, smart, and cute that I thought it would the perfect craft to kick of 20 Minute Tuesday.

Supplies:
7 – 1 inch gumballs per flower
16-18″ of ribbon per corsage
felt scraps
cardboard scraps
hot glue
scissors

To start, lay out your gumballs on a flat surface you can hot glue on in the pattern you want them to ultimately be finished in.

Keeping the gumballs on the flat surface to keep the flower level, add a dab of hot glue to center gumball and attach one of the “petal” gumballs to it. Continue adding glue and then adding a “petal” until you have added all 6 gumballs. The glue dries very fast so you will have to work quickly.

Cut out a 2″ cardboard circle and a matching 2″ felt circle for each flower that you want to make into a corsage.

Glue the cardboard circle down to the back of your flower, followed by your piece of ribbon and then your felt circle. That’s it!! You’re corsage is finished.

Gumballs come is so many fun colors, both in matte and shimmer, these days that your color combinations are limitless. And with the plethora of amazing ribbons available you can truly personalize these corsages for any event. I could see these fun corsages being perfect for a father/daughter dance, Easter Brunch, Mother’s Day, play date crafts…. so many possibilities.

Aren’t they just adorable on little wrists?

She’s just too sassy sometimes.

And they even look cute on mom size wrists!

**Please remember that these gumballs have been hot glued and therefore should not be eaten. Also, gumballs of this size can be a chocking hazard for small children so please keep that in mind and do not let them play with these corsages with out the proper supervision.**
Hope you enjoyed the first 20 Minute Tuesday! Join me next week for another fun and easy craft!!

Have you walked by the displays of large plastic chargers at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and said to yourself – “Self, I really want to buy those cheap chargers but what in the world am I going to do with them?” Well I have your solution today. Use them in lieu of name cards at your Easter Brunch/Lunch/Dinner (or any party really). This would be a really fun project for your children to help out with as well. I made mine with the help of my Silhouette Cameo but stickers bought at the store work just as well.

Supplies:
Plastic chargers (I got these 2/$3 at Michael’s on sale, regular price is $1.99)
Sticker letters – they come in so many different fonts, colors, and sizes
Assortment of spring or Easter themes stickers and decals (the kind meant for the wall would be great on this project) I would stay away from dimensional stickers for this project.

Here is the only step involved – Place stickers on the chargers! Let your kids make their own and help out with the others. Use the sticker letters to personalized each charger for every guest at your table. The stickers are removable so you can re-personalize them for every dinner you ever have!
Does it get any easier than that?!? I think not!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this easy DIY project!
