I am back today to share with you the signature cocktail that we served at the Red & Black Tattoo Baby Shower. A cocktail that I think would be PERFECT for a Halloween party (think Vampires & Blood!) – and to make it doubly better it would look exactly the same if you wanted to  skip the alcohol!!

Having a signature cocktail makes the cocktail aspect of your party simpler, cheaper, and more tied together. I love picking a drink that ties into your color theme. There are so many brightly colored liquors that making a signature cocktail for your party is easier than ever. To top that off, Vodka comes in just about any flavor you want these days, so not only can your cocktail match your color scheme it can also compliment your dessert table choices.

Recipe:
(adapted from Grey Goose)
1.5 parts Cherry flavored Vodka (there are many to pick from)
3.5 parts Sprite (or other lemon-lime soda, Ginger Ale is also a great option)
.5 parts Genadine
Cherries (optional)

I would suggest freezing your vodka and chilling your Sprite & Grenadine so everything is nice and cold. Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher. Keep pitcher on ice or provide ice for your guests’ individual use. Place 1 cherry in every glass and let the guests pour their own drink when they arrive and as they need refills.

Please enjoy responsibly!

I had another fabulous group of ladies over at the house this weekend for a Crafty Ladies Night Out (even though we met at 3:30 in the afternoon)! This time the project we did was a request from one of the ladies so we made apothecary jars like I had previously made and posted about (here is the Original Post which has the links back to where the idea came from).  We usually try to stay under $10 but these babies are a tad more expensive when you make a pair, but with some advanced planning mixed in with some last minute shopping, we were able to get half off the jars and 30% off half of the wood pieces we needed. I had bought 3 colors of paint for the ladies to pick from, little did I know that everyone would want the same color! Luckily I dug through my paint supply box and was able to pull out another bottle of vintage white/cream paint for us to use!  All in all I think the jars came out very cute and everyone got to dig through my boxes of ribbon to find some ribbon to complete the look of their jars to their own taste! We also munched on sour jelly beans and chocolate cupcakes while sipping some yummy Izze sparking apple juice and bottled water using the GORGEOUS spring dot paper straws I won from Oh Goodie Designs. I made (about 5 minutes before everyone arrived) some spring party logos to top off some cupcakes and decorate the table and I thought I would share those with you! Just click here and here to download the files, they print 12 to a page and are for personal use only!

I’ve had several comments on the Crafty Ladies Night project that I wrote about asking about more details to the project so here is a little run down of how to do the project and how we run CLNO!

Framed Fabric Covered Cork Board –

Supplies:

  • 12×12 frame ($5 at Hobby Lobby)
  • 14×14 square of fabric (we used Amy Butler & Kate Spain fat quarters)
  • 12×12 cork tile (recycled from a previous cork board I had glued on my wall)
  • 14×14 piece of batting  (we tore a piece in half width wise to make it pretty thin)
  • a box of tacks
  • assorted brads, mini clothespins, bling stickers
  • spray adhesive, glue gun, pliers, gorilla tape

To make the framed cork board:

  1. remove backing & glass from frame, keep backing & find a new home for the glass
  2. using spray adhesive, glue batting to cork tile
  3. center fabric over batting, flip over and starting with the top, use gorilla glue to adhere fabric to cork, making sure to pull tightly, but not too tight as to bend the cork
  4. repeat on the opposite side before turning cork 90 degrees to tap down the remaining sides
  5. for the corners, fold the fabric in and secure it with a small piece of tape. Don’t worry what it looks like from the back too much, since it will all be hidden once you put it back in the frame
  6. place covered cork into the glassless frame and return the backing, close frame (we needed to use the handle end of a screwdriver to “close” the frame metal tabs, just be careful)

To make the tacks:

    1. using wire cutters or scissors you don’t care about carefully remove the plastic covering on the tacks by making 3 or 4 small cuts on the back and pry open
    2. if you are re-purposing brads, remove the prongs by rocking them back and forth til they fall off
    3. hot glue brad top to nekkid tacks
    4. admire how stinkin’ crafty you are!!
That’s all there is to it! We also made some mini clothespin tack by glueing the clothespin directly to a nekkid tack and then decorating the clothespins. You could also make some mini fabric or ribbon rosettes and glue them to tacks or to the frame it’s self! The possibilities are endless really!

    Crafty Ladies Night Out details…
So far we have only done 2 crafty ladies nights but we have run them the same way. I come up with several craft options and bounce them off my friend, who helps me organize inviting everyone and getting people here. Once we settle on a craft, she sends out an email giving 2 date options and the most popular one wins. In the meantime I gather up all the supplies and make a few crafty treats that I’ve found on blogland (like the marshmellow pops and caramal kisses on the pretzels). Since our first one was Halloween themed and this one was close-ish to Valentine’s Day, I try to decorate accordingly. Our goal is to keep the project around or under $10. Since I buy all the supplies everyone just gives me their $$ when they arrive. Also, we ask everyone to bring a drink or snack to share (but I usually have more than enough snacks to go around). Then we gab and glue! I act as the “teacher” guiding everyone through the project.
It really is a lot of fun and I totally recommend it to anyone. I am not a book reader, so this is kinda my way to have a book club!!
Next time we get together we are going to be making Apothecary jars as seen here!!

We had our first Crafty Ladies Night Out get together last night. Due to the date we had picked there weren’t as many ladies in attendance but we had a great time, nonetheless! Of course I forgot to take pictures of the actual event (too into the {craft} zone!) but my wonderful husband did take pictures of everything set up!
We made Trick or Treat buckets and personalized candy bowls for giving out the candy, too! We’ve gotta start thinking about next month’s craft, something seasonal? something to give out as holiday gifts? something for ourselves or our houses? Gotta start crawling through the interweb to find something fun!
For now, here are the pictures!! (btw, you can get the cupcake topper printables free from my blog, go take a look around!)
    Enjoy & Happy Friday!
