Polka Dotty Pool Party – {Favor Table}

May 17, 2011 By Stacy 12 Comments

We mostly has a small family party for Baby P, a couple friends and a couple cousins, so I was able to spend a little more time on hand making some of the goodies for the favor table.

Here is the overall finished table. I used some Navy Blue Polka Dot fabric from Fabric.com   for the table cloth and the Pink Suitcases with blue handles which are OH SO CUTE came from Land of Nod.
Here is the little sign I designed for the table. I thought it was clever 🙂 The graphics are from Blackleaf Studio available on My Grafico.
 Instead of the standard paper bags or gable boxes I decided to test my straight line sewing skills and handmade these reusable snack bags. I found the amazing tutorial on Prudent Baby and bought the food safe nylon from Seattle Fabrics (I totally cheaped out and bought the 2nds!). The bags for the girls are pink striped on one side and pink polka dot on the other with HOT PINK nylon inside and pink velcro, too! The boys were a combo of Navy Blue polka dots & Navy Blue stripes with white nylon and BRIGHT BLUE velcro. The older of my nephews who was there got a special green bag with stripes and dots and NEON GREEN velcro! I used my silhouette machine to cut out an initial for each bag in white flocked heat transfer. So the favor bag is a favor to the parents, these bags are a great alternative to plastic snack bags!!
 These gumballs from Polka Dot Market are AMAZE-BALLS! They are huge and they taste fantastic! I loaded up 5 tubes from Shop Sweet Lulu (I was the lucky winner of a $10 shop credit!!), tied them with polka dot thank you tags and some ribbon, and then poured the rest inside the suitcase. They were a huge hit
! (here is an alternate picture of the gumballs, it was my mock up before I decided on the suitcases, but I just wanted to show you how awesome they are

 I found these little cuties for $0.48 on an end cap in Target and snatched them up. Originally they were going to used as place cards (and as weights to hold down the plates and napkins) but we changed our plans and ate on the covered porch to escape the sun. I didn’t want them to go to waste so I put them on the favor table so everyone could still take theirs home!
 Hershey Kisses are just about one of my favorite chocolates! Luckily for me they had a blue, pink and green combo bag out for Easter that were perfect for the party (sometimes you just gotta stray a little from the color palette since they are most likely never coming out with navy blue wrapped Kisses!). To add a little flair and tie in my printables I added mini party logo circles to the bottom! I used Onlinelabels.com .75″ glossy circle labels. LOVE!
 This little number (get it, har har har) was a last minute craft idea. I didn’t know where I was going with it when I started but I think it came out super cute and added a punch of color to the table. Watch for the DIY on this coming out soon!
 I didn’t want my party goers to have to Sail Away thirsty so I set out some ice cold bottles of water right before they walked up. I once again used Onlinelabels.com to purchase the weatherproof water bottle labels and print my designs onto.
 I made little tented labels for the table, although I probably didn’t need to, when kids see candy and gum and small toys they know what’s going on!
For all of the suitcases I made mini bunting out of the fabric scraps I had left over from my various sewing projects. Since there were 3 different sized suitcases I varied the length between the 6 pennants on each of my 3 buntings. I also included a bunch of small random toys little kids seem to like so much, they were as big of a hit as the candy!
So there you have the favor table! If you measure the success of a favor table off how much the kiddos loved it and how empty it was when they are done then this one was a WINNER!!
