DIY Ribbon Shelf

September 26, 2011 By Stacy 18 Comments

I am so over the moon excited about my new Ribbon Storage Shelf! Once again, I have to thank Pinterest for pointing me in the perfect direction – right to {capture the moment}! (my PSA about {capture the moment} is that you are going to spend a LOT of time on the site going through the endless amount of creativity they have to offer). Nichole posted the most fabulous ribbon storage I have seen, and the best part is that her husband made it and they posted all the materials and instructions you need to make it. I showed it to my husband last week and Friday he took Mini Me with him to Home Depot and bought all the wood & molding! Then, he spent Saturday outside making it for me! If you want to know the secret to having your hubs make you things on a Saturday during football season – it’s having a 40″ LCD tv “installed” in the garage. Mr. {kinda}Crafty was kind enough to buy the pre-primed wood for me because I HATE painting, even if it’s only white, so that made my part even easier. I have already decided that the shelf is too small – I still have 3-4 boxes full of ribbon.  (sorry for all the photos but I just love it so much, I couldn’t narrow it down to 1 or 2)

If you don’t have table/desk space this is easily hung on the wall, too!

Stacy you truly are a ‘ribbonaholic’!! Love that storage, I’m not surprised you would have something so great. And I’m also not surprised that it’s NOT your whole collection, guess hubby will be making another one next weekend! It honestly looks like a ribbon shop, can I buy a yard?

I saw the same picture on Pinterest but never could get it right. Well, I am going to try again now that I have seen it again. This time I will follow her directions completely and maybe I will get it to look right. Thank you so much for your inspiration. Yours looks WONDERFUL! How exciting to get such a difficult thing to store looking so fabulous. Great job! I think this is the perfect way to store your ribbon and I am all for organizing everything even though I am not organized myself. Thank you.

What a cool husband! It looks great! I am a little jealous, using a gun rack and dowel rods for mine.

Hoping over from Tatertots & Jello… I just LOVE it. I just took over our dining room (that we never used) and am turning it into a craft area. I might just have to have the hubs make me one of these too!

    Don’t you just love Pinterest!?!

Love your ribbon storage and collection. Just yesterday I was working on setting up my craft room, opening old boxes of supplies and gathered up all my ribbon. We (me and my hubby) made a different type of storage system but now I can show him that I’m not the only person on the face of the earth that loves to collect ribbon.

This is awesome! My husband and I are actually in the process of trying to collect materials to build one, but we can’t find the 1 1/2 inch crown molding the directions call for. The smallest we can find are 2 1/4 inch. Were you able to find the correct size and, if so, would you mind sharing where please? Thanks so much!
