She’s Kinda Crafty Goes to London | Travel Photos

July 8, 2013 By Stacy 2 Comments

My husband and I recently got to take an amazing trip “across the pond” for what was suppose to be a 10 day journey. Due to travel issues, the trip was only 9 days and only 6.5 of those were with our luggage. Regardless of airline disfunction we had an amazing time and I wanted to share with you some of my photos. I will try to add commentary as needed!

We left Tampa after dropping our girls off with their cousins at Nana & Papa’s house on Sunday afternoon and we didn’t arrive in London until 7am local time on TUESDAY! After spending several hours in the airport trying to figure out what happened to our luggage we headed to our hotel, the London Hilton Park Lane, for a couple hours of sleep. The hotel was wonderful! The staff was great, our room was comfortable and modern yet luxurious, from everything we had heard about European hotels we were pleasantly surprised. We were also up on the 22nd floor over-looking Hyde Park.

(wearing clothes I had to buy in London) Us in the elevator on our way to our bike tour.

Waterloo train station, this is where we met our bike tour. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing London by bike. We booked Brake Away Bike Tours and it was my favorite activity on the entire trip.

The bike tour took a pit stop so we could watch the Royal marching band lead the way to the changing of the Guard.

Westmister Abbey

This was my bike seat!

On the bike tour we took a break in an area called Covent Garden and guess what I found there…

LadurĂ©e Macarons!! They were the perfect cycling treat (I had 3!)

We explored so many parts of London on bike, including the Opera and Ballet district where they had this beautiful statue.

And in the legal district we came across this statue.

Towards the end of our bike tour we were at a stop light and this guy pulled up next to me. I couldn’t help but take a picture of this yarn-wrapped bike!

France is close enough so I felt like croissants were a good breakfast choice (when isn’t it, really)

A couple other things we ate and drank.

Oh, and then there was the night we saw the QUEEN!

Some of the cabs are colorfully wrapped like this one. Also, the man in the tophat was our doorman at the fancy hotel.

We took the train to Bath and wandered around the city on a surprisingly sunny day.

We toured the Roman Baths in Bath.

There was a street market where I saw this really cute piece of art.

This is the Crescent in Bath, we enjoyed laying on the lawn with the sun on our faces.
We took the train back to London (about 90 minutes) and got a good night’s rest so we could wake up ridiculously early to catch the train to Paris (which was only about 2 hrs and 15 minutes)!
More about Paris and the rest of our trip coming soon!
