Chalkboard {Bag} Clips!!

June 14, 2011 By Stacy 18 Comments

I don’t know about your house, but there must be a bag clip eating gnome living in our kitchen. What else could explain how whenever I’ve opened a fresh bag of Sour Cream & Onion potato chips there are no clips to close up the bag, forcing me to consume the vast majority of the bag. So I made these cute little bag clips by gluing some scrapbook paper I had lying around onto clothes pins I found in the laundry room (side note: I did not buy these clothes pins 3 years ago to do anything remotely related to laundry – I was going to try to make my own korker ribbon, but that never took off, and where else would you store your clothes pins than in the laundry room, right?!?). But I didn’t stop at just making the clothes pins pretty, I wanted to add little chalkboards to the top so I could write opened dates or keep out notes or whatever witty saying could fit on a 1.5″ x 1.5″ square. You just need the little wood squares (or whatever shape you want) they sell in the craft wood section of Michael’s, chalkboard paint and either E6000 or Gorilla Glue. I only had pink chalkboard paint in the house and I am trying this new thing where I just use the supplies I have and so, for better or WORSE, these things are pink. Just make sure you follow the directions on the paint and let them cure or they will be no good to you. Also, chalkboard markers are WAY better than dusty regular chalk! So now my little gnomes are going to starve and be forced to pack their bags and find a new home to pillage for bag clips!

I LOVE these, AND I didn’t even KNOW about chalk MARKERS. I am so excited. I love how you used what you had too, that has been something I have been trying to do lately too. My project has pink letter stickers on it when it probably really would have been better with a darker color. I think your pink chalkboard paint looks great!
