20 Minute Tuesday | Gumball Corsage

February 26, 2013 By Stacy 11 Comments

Welcome to my new (hopefully) weekly series called 20 minute Tuesday!! Every week I am going to bring you quick, easy, smart, and cute ideas that can be executed in around 20 minutes. I’d love to hear any ideas you have for a 20 Minute Tuesday segment – leave me a comment or drop me a line!! On with the show.
A couple weeks ago, at my daughter’s 5th birthday party, I set out a rainbow of gumballs in mason jars on the dessert table. It was fun and pretty, but it netted me with a bunch of extra gumballs. So while I was procrastinating doing real work last week and staring at the half empty mason jars full of colorful gumballs it came to me…make gumball flowers!! But then, the ideas just kept coming…make those flowers in to bracelets, or corsages, for my little ones to wear!! They were so simple, smart, and cute that I thought it would the perfect craft to kick of 20 Minute Tuesday.

Supplies:
7 – 1 inch gumballs per flower
16-18″ of ribbon per corsage
felt scraps
cardboard scraps
hot glue
scissors

To start, lay out your gumballs on a flat surface you can hot glue on in the pattern you want them to ultimately be finished in.

Keeping the gumballs on the flat surface to keep the flower level, add a dab of hot glue to center gumball and attach one of the “petal” gumballs to it. Continue adding glue and then adding a “petal” until you have added all 6 gumballs. The glue dries very fast so you will have to work quickly.

Cut out a 2″ cardboard circle and a matching 2″ felt circle for each flower that you want to make into a corsage.

Glue the cardboard circle down to the back of your flower, followed by your piece of ribbon and then your felt circle. That’s it!! You’re corsage is finished.

Gumballs come is so many fun colors, both in matte and shimmer, these days that your color combinations are limitless. And with the plethora of amazing ribbons available you can truly personalize these corsages for any event. I could see these fun corsages being perfect for a father/daughter dance, Easter Brunch, Mother’s Day, play date crafts…. so many possibilities.

Aren’t they just adorable on little wrists?

She’s just too sassy sometimes.

And they even look cute on mom size wrists!

**Please remember that these gumballs have been hot glued and therefore should not be eaten. Also, gumballs of this size can be a chocking hazard for small children so please keep that in mind and do not let them play with these corsages with out the proper supervision.**
Hope you enjoyed the first 20 Minute Tuesday! Join me next week for another fun and easy craft!!
