Southern Craft Academy | The Details

April 3, 2013 By Stacy 8 Comments

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you might know that a couple weekends ago I attended BlissDom. BlissDom is a conference mainly for bloggers, but mostly it exists for people who are out there trying to find a way to make a living by following their bliss. I have been blogging here on She’s Kinda Crafty for almost 3 years with pretty much no direction or “vision” or long-term goals. I strive to bring you fun, cute, simple crafts that you create at home on a semi-regular basis and I make wreaths and other various items on the side. Going to BlissDom not only made me think about dreaming big but it also put me in chairs next to other women who love to dream big. And sitting in that chair next to me during a break or a session, or maybe it was a meal (I can’t remember because the 3 days went by so fast) was none other than Aimee Broussard – you know, the Aproness. We’ve always loved to banter back and forth about our opposing football teams but sitting next to someone, face to face, you get the chance to have real conversations. The chance to find out that you share the same dreams!!
That dream for us is a CRAFT WEEKEND and so was born…

 The Southern Craft Academy

What’s even more fun is when that huge dream (because I’ll be honest, this is a BIG dream) has a 3rd person, too! Susie Harris is a very talented painter and I am dying to have one of her signs in my house, I just need to settle on which one because I love them all! Hey, the more the craftier I always say!
Susie & Aimee have the pleasure of living near each other in Baton Rouge, LA so they get to do all the fun “in face” details while I am here in NC making logos, helping plan crafts, and of course budgeting! (maybe that’s why they let me in on the dream, they just want me for my mad accounting skillz, yo) 😉 I kid, I kid!
If you love to craft, want to improve your crafting skills, or just want a weekend away with the girls – this is the weekend you’ve been looking for!
It’s gonna be part fancy – we’re staying at this just re-opened bed & breakfast at the Bocage Plantation – part messy – we’re talking glue guns, sewing machines, scissors, ALL the good craft stuff – and part crazy pajama party!
Here is what we’ve got in store for 9 lucky ladies the weekend of August 2-4, 2013:

Wondering what we mean by “all the crafts we can fit into 1 weekend?” Well I will let Aimee tell you in her words what we will be doing (b/c she’s way funnier) –
Try ruffled tote bags, monogrammed mouse pads, ribbon wreaths and embroidery hoop art for starters.
And if you’re still hanging after those first few hours?
Then you’ll need to bring your A-game to the pajama pants session because we’ll be having one heck of a PJ Pants Fashion Show come midnight! With prizes!
OMG  Did she just say I’ll be making pj pants? And modeling them?
Did she say I might win a prize?
Yep, yep, and yep.
And ya’ll that’s not even everything we have in store, but rather than disclosing ALL of the craft details we’ll be keeping some surprises!
Yeah, it’s gonna be that Crazy! Crazy fun, Crazy crafty, and probably a little Crazy crazy, too!
In case you didn’t get to click on the Bocage Plantation link you just have to see what this place looks like.

So now that you’re all excited, run, race and set your reminders for tomorrow, Thursday April 4th at 9:00am CST.

The three of us will be posting the link on our Facebook pages!
***Fine Print: You will be sharing a room with other ladies- 3 total to a room. Not everyone will have a bed to themselves. We like to refer to this as glamping- glamorous camping. Every effort will be made to make absolute certain you are comfortable, but you should be aware beforehand that some of you’ll have bed buddies. DO NOT WORRY. You will be paired with like personalities and we pinky promise your roommates will become your best friends. Promise.  If you’re still worried, check out the size of the rooms at Bocage and I’m betting you’ll relax. ***
