{Craft} project of the week!

September 24, 2010 By Stacy 1 Comment

Still gearing up for Halloween around the house, my deadline is next Thursday when I host a Crafty Ladies Night Out here at the casa! Have you ever checked out Tatertots & Jello’s Weekend Wrap Up Party? It’s amazing! Every Friday night she opens up a link party (which is where ANYONE can link up their blog posts) and hundreds of people post their amazingly creative ideas for everyone to share! It’s quite the party.
So last weekend I linked up my Trick {OR} Treat banner and had a ton of  page views, which is so exciting for a new blogger like me!
While I was looking around at all the other amazing links at the party I came across this one from Uncommon Designs (which then linked me to another site, here)! Once I read how ridiculously easy these were to make and how up scale they looked I couldn’t help but drive down to my Hobby Lobby and try them out for myself. Everyone must be making them because Hobby Lobby had only 2 candle sticks and 3 finials left (or they just have bad inventory management at Hobby Lobby, but really how could they have good inventory management when they hand key in the prices at the cash register, no bar codes, no tracking, ugh)…where was I? Oh, yeah, so I brought all my pieces home, painted them black and started assembling. I ran into an issue with the candle sticks not being level or straight. So I had to come up with some {kinda} crafty ways to fix the problem. After rummaging around the house for a solution I can up with a cork wall tile (from the bulletin board display we’d recently taken off the wall in the office) and some furniture pads (those little circles you stick under your furniture so you don’t ruin your wood floors when you toddlers play interior decorator and constantly move your furniture around). So with my trusty level I added those little pads to the bottom until I achieve levelness. Anyway, it was a headache but I am super excited about how they turned out. And the best part is that the ribbon can be changed out as well as the contents and be used again for many holidays to come! Total cost for both jars – $15 (plus candy)! Don’t they look more expensive than just $15!!

Yours look great! Getting them level can be a booger, but it is so worth it! Love you Girls Night party decor. Just too cute! Happy Halloween!
