Gummie {Gumball} Necklace!!!

March 8, 2011 By Stacy 30 Comments

I am sure you know by now that gumballs are a pretty big trend in parties this year. I just ordered some pink, green, and blue beauties for baby P’s 1st birthday party myself. On top of that One Charming Party posted these BEAUTIFUL gumball necklaces a couple month ago! Does it get any cuter than that? So yesterday I was walking through Super Target and while in the bulk candy section I came across Alphabet Gummies and after a little spray of WD-40, the wheels in my head started turning and I snatched them up (plus they were on sale) along with a small bag of colorful gumballs. Here is what I came up with…a Gummie & Gumball Name Necklace!! Stringing the gumballs and gummies was harder than I had thought but the whole project took about 15-20 minutes, so it’s totally doable as party favors! In the pictures below I show some 6mm double faced satin ribbon but I ended up using baker’s twine from The Twinery instead (however if you wanted the ends to be fancy like the ones on One Charming Party you could string the gumballs and gummies with the twine and then tie the twine to prettier ribbon for the necklace part). I thought it turned out super cute and my daughter just loved it! I think this would also be really cute as a gumball bracelet with a single letter gummie “charm”!!

That is SOOOOO FABULOUS! I love it!!! Just curious… did you have a hard time not breaking the gum balls when you were working? Did your needle/thread get all goopy? I’ve tried making bracelets with jelly beans, but those were the tricky part to making them look nice. Thanks for your tips!
