The Painted {Frame}

June 14, 2012 By Stacy 2 Comments

Last week my sister-in-law and her 2 sons were Baptized and as I looked around the internet for a baptism gift I only came across baby gifts. That left it up to me to come up with a gift on my own! I wanted to make something that they could use to commemorate this special day in their lives so I made a personalized picture frame!

 Usually I would just cover the frame in paper and slap a few coats of Modge Podge on top but I didn’t have any paper that really spoke to me so I decided to jump in with both feet and paint this frame myself.

Supplies:
Wood Frame
Several colors of paint
Varnish
Paint brush
Martha Stewart Foam Pouncer
Stickers or Decal or Paint pen for the name
Wooden Cross or other emblishment

The secret to the great circles is the foam pouncer, it’s practically fool proof as evidenced by the fact that I was able to do it and I am possibly the world’s worst painter! Just make sure you let your base coat dry first and watch how much paint you put on the pouncer.

 Once everything was dry I gave it two coats of varnish before adding my painted cross and decals to personalize. I also ran my paintbrush around the edges of the frame to add a little depth to the project.

 See how pretty and exact my pouncer circles are, YAY!!

Remember, that just because you can’t find the kind of gift you want to give doesn’t mean you should settle for a gift card or generic gift, just go ahead and MAKE the gift you want to give!!
