If you have followed me on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest you might know that I have a wee obsession with monograms. Ok, you got me, it’s more like a really large obsession with monograms. The number one thing I usually make with my Silhouette CAMEO – monograms. The number one thing I love to give as gifts – monograms. In the spirit of #MonogramMonday I’ve rounded up some of my favorite DIY Monogram Gifts posts from around my blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest feeds!

DIY Monogram Holiday Gift Guide | She's Kinda Crafty

One of my favorite, and most popular, monogram tutorials is on how to make these ridiculously awesome ring dishes. Perfect for almost any lady on your gift list!
DIY Monogram Gifts

Another very popular post is my DIY Ornaments for Boys and Tweens. I think all girls, no matter their age, would adore these monogrammed ornaments and they are super simple to make.

In keeping with the gold monogram trend I made this monogrammed clipboard for myself last year and I am still using it! I couldn’t think of any of my daughters’ teachers who wouldn’t love a chic monogrammed clipboard.

This is one of my all time most used and favorite pins in the (relatively short) history of Pinterest. It teaches you how to use free files to make an endless array of monogrammed stickers and labels. I couldn’t believe how easy they were to make and they came out amazingly professional looking.

I made this serving tray two years ago from a $15 tray I found at Target! The great news for you is that they brought these amazing serving trays back again this year AND they added a new size as you can see from the gold tray I posted on my Instagram account!

Another one of my favorites from my Instagram feed is this Charming Charlie necklace that I personalized. For help on how to cut and apply a monogram you can check out my Vinyl 101 tutorial.

And last, but certainly not least, monogram gifts don’t always have to come in the physical form. A personalized digital monogram that can be used as a phone, tablet, or laptop screen image is also a wonderful way to show someone that you are thinking about them. I LOVE Monogram App available in the Apple App Store.

So those are just some of many DIY monogram holiday gifts that you can make this year. And monogrammed gifts are just for the holidays they are the perfect gift for any occasion. You can turn a plain jane mason jar, tumbler, coffee cup, frame, or clipboard and turn it into a one of kind, from the heart gift with just a little vinyl decal or a carefully painted set of three letters. If you don’t have a Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait, now is a wonderful time to get one. Black Friday deals are happening at Silhouette until December 8, 2014.

Happy holiday gift making!!

The wait and suspense is over! I got my huge holiday craft delivery from ConsumerCrafts that I talked about last week. If you follow me on Instagram, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t, then you already saw a sneak peek of my goodies! It was truly hard for me to pick 1 homemade holiday craft to share with you so stay tuned for the next couple weeks for a few more, but today I want to show you how to make a DIY Angel Ornament (with glitter) in 4 easy steps!!
*disclaimer – this post is sponsored by Consumer Crafts but the opinions stated are 100% authentic and of my own accord.

The supplies you need are very simple and very easy to customize – the shapes and the colors are all interchangeable, just pick what you want!

Supplies:
Glass Ornaments
Fine Glitter
Satin Angel wings
Coordinating 3/8″ Ribbon
Funnel (or a piping tip as I used)
Pledge Floor Care clean & shine or the cheap non-aerosal hair spray works in a pinch, too
Glue gun and glue sticks

Step 1) Remove the ornament tops and swish around a small amount of Pledge or hairspray. Dump any access liquid into your next ornament.

2) Place a funnel, or icing piping tip, into the top of your ornament and pour some glitter in. Start rolling the glitter around to cover all the sides, adding more glitter if needed.

Step 3) Place caps, carefully, back on to the ornaments.

Step 4) Hot glue angel wings to the back of the ornament and tie a coordinating ribbon through the loop for hanging (or use an ornament hook).

It was really THAT simple! Now you have a beautiful ornament to adorn your tree with the memory of loved ones or give ask gifts.

Of course, you could take it one step further and add some personalization – with paint, vinyl, or stickers.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you can do with a box of glass ornaments! Find out more information about Consumer Crafts along with some really great DIY inspiration:

Speaking of adding some custom personalization to these Consumer Crafts is hosting an awesome giveaway – a Circut Explore valued at $299! Please make sure to read their giveaway terms in the below rafflecopter! Good Luck!!!

I am sure that if you’ve seen any of my recent blog posts you might get the idea that I am in love with black and white stripes. Well you would be correct, I can’t get enough of them! Since I am gearing up to start our holiday home decorating soon, which will feature black and white stripes again this year, I have been working on several DIY stripe projects. Today’s project is one of my favorite because not only does it have stripes, it has gold glitter, too! These jars would make cute gifts, you could put a cluster of them together for a fun centerpiece, and they are fun just by themselves.

Supplies:

Wide mouth mason jar (I use Ball Canning jars)
Vinyl decal or sticker
Mod Podge
Paint (I used black and white but you can use any two colors)
Glitter
Paint brushes
Painter’s tape
(optional) Acrylic sealer

Place your decal on the mason jar wherever it has the least about of raised lettering. I cut this snowflake out on scrap vinyl with my Silhouette CAMEO but you can use any shape, any color, or any sticker.

Next, apply a light layer of Mod Podge over your decal/sticker – this will ensure that instead paint that might get under the decal/sticker edge it is clear Mod Podge instead. Let dry 15 min or so.

Next, starting right under the rim, make 2 stripes with 1″ wide painter’s tape. Paint the exposed glass with one of your colors.

Let the first coat dry. Paint a 2nd coat of the same color and then before the 2nd coat dries pull off the painter’s tape.

Using a flat edge brush I hand painted the black stripes. I did this for two reasons: 1) I am very impatient and I did not want to wait for the white to completely dry before moving on and 2) Paint doesn’t necessarily want to stick to glass, especially acrylic paint, so I feared that covering up the white with painter’s tape to paint the black would result in the white paint pulling off of the glass. Hand painting 2 stripes is pretty simple, you an totally do it!!

Before the 2nd coat of your 2nd paint dries it’s time to pull up the decal or sticker you used. Using a snowflake might not have been the best way to go, it wasn’t easy pulling up all those points of the snowflake. I think a Christmas Tree or reindeer would have been a little easier. As you can see below I had a little issue in the lower left hand side of the snowflake – but no big deal I just used my painted brush and hand brushed in the parts that peeled away when I was removing the decal.

The only thing left is to brush Mod Podge all inside your jar and shake away with the glitter. Once you’ve got a good coat you an choose to spray acrylic sealer inside the jar, on top of the glitter, to help it from shedding.

To add some extra shimmer to all that glitter drop in an LED tea light, you can pick them up in almost every candle section these days. I would just hold back on placing a real open fame due to all the glitter and sealer.

I can’t wait to get my entry hall wall repainted so that I can finally start putting up our holiday decorations!

To all my readers who have seen Frozen, which I am guessing is most of you, I am sorry for the earworm I am about to implant with this next project. Just know that it’s all worth it to see how you can make this great winter sign! A winter sign with a dash of pizzazz thanks to using double sided adhesive paper

Disclaimer: This is not a paid ad, it is just a tutorial from me showing you how I use one of my favorite products. This post does, however, include affiliate links.

This project started out like many others of mine, perusing the Silhouette Online Store late at night while watching TV. When I saw this design, I just knew I had to buy it even though I wasn’t really sure how I would use it. The next day, however, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it – search through my husband’s scrap wood pile in the garage and make it into a sign!

After prepping (sanding) and painting the board I cut out the sign letters in brown and red vinyl and applied them to my sign board. If you need tips, tricks, and tutorial on how to make a typography sign using your Silhouette machine you can read my post Make Subway Art from Silhouette Store Files.

Here is what the sign looked like before. It’s cute, but a little plain.

I could have just painted a circle with Mod Podge onto the center on the sign but 1) there is no way it would be perfectly circle 2) I didn’t know how it would all stick, and stay, to the glossy outdoor vinyl I used and 3) I didn’t want glitter all over my sign.

So I flipped through all my specialty papers until I found the double-sided adhesive sheets that I had purchased a while ago from Silhouette (probably when they had a 40% off sale, which is when I like to stock up…usually around black Friday).

This material is great, you can run it right through your machine, peel off the top, white layer, add your glitter, then peel of the back, yellow layer and stick it anywhere you want!

And now you have the perfectly glittered ruby red circle to turn this great song lyric from Kristoff into a Christmastime themed sign!

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen.,
But do you recall?
The most famous reindeer of all?
Silly question, of course you do! It’s Rudolph and with that sparkly, or glittery, red nose he belongs front and center on your front door this Christmas.
But that’s not all I have to share with you today folks, I have teamed up with 14 other OUTSTANDING bloggers who have all created new and amazing Christmas wreaths, too! Please make sure you take the time to visit all their wreaths, too, they will definitely get you into the Holiday Spirit!

When I first saw this paper maché reindeer at Michael’s I picked it up not having any idea what I was going to do with it other than make it the centerpiece of our holiday decorations.  Add in a little cabana stripe ribbon from Nashville Wraps, vintage gold paint, red glitter, and some pom pom trim and I was in business!

I thought good ol’ Rudy could use a little extra glitter so I made a quick rosette out of ruby red glitter paper and attached a piece of wood bunting painted in the matching gold and adorned with a vinyl decal I made with my Silhouette CAMEO.

And what dapper man, or deer, doesn’t look better with a bowtie. I made this one out of wired glitter ribbon, a twist tie, and some hot glue.

Rudolph would just be any reindeer walking down the street if it weren’t for his red nose. Using a q-tip I applied Mod Podge in a deer nose shape and covered it with bright red glitter. A great tip with glitter is to use a dry paint or makeup brush to remove excess glitter from areas around the glittered spot.

Below you will find the links to each of the brand new 2014 Christmas Wreaths. To appreciate all the lovely details of each wreath, click on each of the links.

It’s Monday and sometimes on Mondays we need a little pick me up. I know that one thing that always brings a smile to my face is monograms. So let’s just refer to Monday as Monogram Monday and we’ll all be just a bit happier about the start to the work week. Today’s monogram might be small but it’s transformation of a plain little appetizer plate is nothing short of mighty! Take into consideration that this project took me less than 5 minutes and you get more Monogram Monday bang for your buck!

Supplies:
– Silhouette (or any other vinyl cutting machine)
– Vinyl (outdoor gloss vinyl if your dish will get wet)
– Contact or Transfer paper
– Small ceramic dish – I used “Tasting Bowls” from Libbey (found on Amazon) but any small dish will do
– Ruler

Measure the inside bottom of your tasting dish. Mine was just shy of 2 inches in each direction. Using your design software, Silhouette Studio in my case, and design your monogram* and size it smaller than the dimensions of your dish. Cut out your monogram on any color or patterned vinyl and use your contact paper or transfer tape to press your design on to the dish. That’s all there is to it!

*The Silhouette Store has the script monogram letters but you will have to buy each letter individually. You can also buy the script font Vines from Front Bros as well as the Circle Monogram font. For a free alternative to Vines you can try KK Monogram that is available for free on DaFont.com.

I just really love all things gold when it comes to decorating and accessorizing right now so I had to make one using this shiny gold vinyl.

It’s just so elegant.

But then again I love all things polka dot and black is so timeless that I just had to make one using this great patterned vinyl, too!

These small ring dishes would complete any bridal shower gift, would make LOVELY stocking stuffers, as well as a nice anytime, just because gift!

So, yeah. It’s like 10 days until Christmas and you probably already have your tree up and all decorated and you are wondering why I waiting this long to post my Christmas Tree Tutu Skirt tutorial. Well, the answer is simple…wait, did you just say it was 10 days til Christmas?!? Honestly, I feel like Halloween was just last week. Thanksgiving and Hanukkah being together really threw me for a loop and then there is the fact we’re traveling for Christmas so I have about 3 million things to do before we leave. I just feel very behind and not in the decorating spirit this year. However, I do love the way my tree looks with her tutu and I thought you might enjoy this look, too! It’s REALLY simple!!

You will need minimal supplies and skill for this skirt, however, you will need a sewing machine. I am sure a nice package of fudge covered Oreos would persuade your friend with a sewing machine to help you on this one!

Supplies:

12-25 yards of tulle (the kind on the bolt in the fabric section, NOT the small 6″ rolls)
Sewing Machine with coordinating thread
2 yards of coordinating ribbon
Loop turner (optional but OH so worth it!)

Your tulle will come folded in half length-wise (making it 22″ wide or so) DO NOT UNFOLD IT!

Simply place one end of your length of tulle in the sewing machine about 1″ from the folded seam and start sewing. * If you want to use thicker ribbon, make the distance between your fold and where you sew thicker to accommodate your ribbon.

And keep sewing…

And keep sewing.

When are finished sewing prepare your ribbon by tucking 1 end into the loop turner.

Then simply run your turner and ribbon through the “tunnel” you’ve just created. Just keep on feeding it in there and gathering your tulle onto the ribbon.

Once you’ve gathered all your tulle onto the ribbon you’re done! You can now tie it around your tree.

Tulle is magical! It comes in any color you want, and like this gold tutu skirt it even comes in shiny finishes.

And when your tree is done with it, your daughter will enjoy nothing more than tying it around her waist and running through the yard on a beautiful, sunny day.

This post was originally posted on Tatertots and Jello as a part of the Happy Holiday series! I was THRILLED to be on one of my all time favorite crafting blogs, it was truly an honor!!

I am loving all the creativity I’ve seen lately turning clear ornaments into little works of art so I wanted to make several for our tree that’s going up any day now!! After finding these mini snowmen ornaments I just knew that they needed a home at the North pole, so I made them one.

Supplies:

Clear plastic ornament
Poly-Fill stuffing beads
Red stripe straw
North Pole Flag (printable link below)
Mini snowman ornament
Tape
Fishing line (optional)

Directions:

  • Fill your ornament about a third of the way with Poly-fill beads
  • Optional step – change out your snowman’s string for fishing line
  • Squeeze your snowman into the ornament but don’t let go of the string/fishing line!!
  • Lift your snowman so he’s just sitting on top of the Ploy-Fill and tape the string/fishing line to the lip of the ornament opening
  • Cut straw to length of the ornament and tape North Pole banner a third of the way down
  • Insert straw into ornament and replace the cap

You can right click to save the north pole file and then print & cut the flags apart.

These cute ornaments are so easy and quick to make you can easily make an entire family of snow-people for your tree or to give to others.

Thank you again to Jen at Tatertots & Jello for having me guest post in her Happy Holidays series! I hope you enjoy making these ornaments as much as I have!!

As most of you might know, the beginning of December is the thick of the Christmas crafting season. Homemade gifts take time so you always want to start a little early. This year I am sending all my nieces and nephews personalized ornaments to hang in their trees. I want to get these out in the mail BEFORE Christmas so that they can enjoy them this year while their tree is up. So here are 3 of my Simple DIY Ornaments for Teens and Boys.

For supplies I used fillable plastic pancake shaped ornaments that I found at Walmart for $0.88 (SCORE!!), poly-fil to fill the girls ornaments, legos to fill the boy ornament, and vinyl decals I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. Silhouette has some of the best deals EVER on their machines and accessories right now just use the coupon code KINDA at check out – more details below.

I like the flatter, pancake shape for personalized ornaments because they pose less of an issue when applying you vinyl than the traditional round ones. The round ones are great for hand painting!

After applying the decal to hopefully the center of the ornament you just fill the inside with the poly beads, replace the cap and top it all off with a bow!

I love this polka dot vinyl that I’ve been hoarding in my vinyl stash for the last year or so. It’s perfect for this preppy Christmas themed ornament.

Even little boys need in on the personalized ornaments. This one has the name and year on the back and is tied with a simple navy blue chevron ribbon to keep it masculine, yet still preppy.

And what LEGO loving boy  wouldn’t want his very own personalized LEGO filled ornament! Just shove a handful of LEGO bricks in the ornament and replace the cap. It would be really fun to put LEGO mini-figs in there as well.

I simply tied a little coordinating twine to each ornament so they would be ready to hang straight out of the box.

Stay tuned for tomorrow for another great DIY Ornament post!! Oh, and here are the details for the Silhouette Sale

But first I want to share with you the easiest confetti garland you’ll ever make!!

You’ll need to supplies to make this confetti garland – Gold Vinyl circles and Twine.

To make the Gold Vinyl circles I opened my Silhouette studio, drew a circle to the size I needed and then used the duplicate function to fill up the page. Once you cut out the circles, simply sandwich your twine between two gold vinyl circles every 4 inches for as long as you need your garland to be. That’s it, it’s really THAT simple!!

I also used my Silhouette Cameo to make a really fast Joy banner using black cardstock hot glued on to twine.

I am really in love with these gold gumballs, they are just too pretty.
