Time to finally {Decorate} this house!!

August 26, 2010 By Stacy 1 Comment

This Halloween will be 2 years since we signed our lives away on the dotted line for our house! I am thinking it might be time to actually decorate this bad boy!

Last week we had several rooms in the house finally painted. This weight watchers thing must have me really hungry because I picked Whole Wheat, Rice Paddy, Lighter Mint, and Cappuccino as my colors! Thankfully they look as good as they sound. So I guess that was step one.
Now I am going to focus my energy on my dinning room because clearly you should spend the most effort on the room you spend the least time in, right?!? My overall vibe for the room is a mix of light & airy summer cottage but dark wood furniture because I am not a fan of light wood (and of course the is Lilly Pulitzer involved, b/c what says summer cottage living more than Lilly?). I’ve got a table, rug, and drapes in Light Silver Sage (notice I didn’t say chairs, clearly we don’t use the dining room if we don’t even have chairs for the table!). I really like these Pottery Barn chairs and I bought some of this fabric to make a runner, and I am really inspired by a centerpiece/tablescape that I saw on an HGTV show called Splurge and Save. So now I just need to put the pieces in motion, hang the drapes, finally buy some chairs (maybe), put together a centerpiece arrangement…the list seems like it’s never ending. Oh, and I guess some pictures or artwork and maybe a new light fixture that isn’t so heavy, ugh. Home decorating is not something that I am not even remotely {crafty} at but I really want to tackle this beast so that when I walk in the house, I can look through the little cut out in the wall and be proud of at least 1 room in my house!!

Current pictures of the space to follow. Once I finally clean off the dining table. So, who really knows when the pictures will actually follow :)
