Lollipop {Topiary}

October 13, 2011 By Stacy 7 Comments

Halloween is fast approaching, which mean Trunk or Treat is fast approaching as well! (You can see my set up for Trunk or Treat last year here) And since this will be my 2nd year hosting a “trunk” you know I have to do it better than I did last year! 🙂
My first project this year is a lollipop topiary that the older kids can pick dum dums from as they come by. It was a relatively easy project, albeit a messy one.

Supplies:
Metal Pail ($2.50 section at the front of Target)
Floral Oasis (from the Dollar Tree)
LOT of Dum Dum Lollipops (170 at wally world for $4.48)

Since I picked a square base of course I had no Styrofoam that would fit the opening. So I did a crafting improve and came up with this arrangement. The problem with using floral oasis (of floral foam) instead of Styrofoam is that it makes a HUGE mess and you will be dealing with microscopic foam dust for days. But it worked, and it was cheap!

After you have formed your based of foam just start sticking lollipops in it! I just made sure the heads of the lollies were as close together as possible. And then keep going and going and turning and going until you are stick of seeing lollipops.

For now it makes a cute arrangement on my entry wall table, even though my daughter spotted it right away and has asked me for a lollipop no less than 6 times already.

Fantabulous Friday!

    Great idea for trick or treaters, too. I’ve featured this today at http://www.craftbuds.com/fall-treats-fresh-picks-for-sunday-10-16-11/
