Magnetic Holiday Card {Display}!

November 9, 2011 By Stacy 14 Comments

I know that many people are waiting until Thanksgiving to be over before they start full force into the Holidays but we aren’t going to be home for Thanksgiving this year and I want to give you time to make some great crafts so I am just diving in, head first, into Holiday decorating TODAY!

I have to admit that this first project is about a year in the making. As in, I bought all the supplies about a year ago and finally just had an “AH HA” moment on how to complete this project this weekend. I really wanted to make a decorative magnetic board for myself last year, so I went to Home Depot or Lowes (I can’t remember because it was that long ago) and bought a sheet of pre-cut metal. Then, I had my husband cut down a scrap piece of plywood down to the size I wanted. Then, I let it sit for like 6 months. Then one day I decided I wanted to use some of my Paper Source Pool Dot paper to cover the metal sheet so I glued the metal onto the painted wood using Liquid Nails and then used spray adhesive to attach the paper to the metal. And then it just sat for about another 6 months and the edges of the paper kind of started to come undone. I would walk by it about once every couple weeks over the last 6 months and just look at it, smooth the paper back down and walk away. That was it, I figure it was going to go into the UFO pile (un-finished objects).

But this past weekend as I walked by the board I finally knew what I was going to do with it – use it to display Holiday cards from family and friends! Duh! What a great idea! So I finished the project by edging the metal/paper with some large Ric Rac glued on using hot glue and hung that bad boy up!
I really wanted some fun, special magnets to use to post up all the wonderful cards our friends and family are sure to send out way (hint hint) so I made some! (tutorial to come very soon!) You can click HERE to see my Holiday Card display solution from last year.

So here are the photos of my board, just WAITING for cute Holiday Cards to cover it all up!
